Roberto Rios Exhibition: Opening Reception
Please join us for the opening reception of the city-wide Robert Rios Exhibition at the San Marcos Art Center as well as five other locations.
Mind Windows: The Art of Roberto Rios celebrates more than 50 years of work by Roberto Rios. The first retrospective dedicated to this important artist, Mind Windows features work from his time as a founding member of Con Safo, a San Antonio-based group that helped to define the Chicano Art movement; through to his work as a well-known muralist and as a Medical Scientific Illustrator for publications produced by Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. On view at six locations throughout San Marcos, Texas between January and March 2023, the exhibition is a partnership between the Texas State Galleries at Texas State University, the San Marcos Art League, the Walkers’ Gallery, Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos, the Price Center, and the San Marcos Public Library, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the San Marcos Arts Commission and the City of San Marcos. The Aquatica Showcase: Opening Reception
The Aquatica Showcase opening reception will take place on September 9th 2022 from 6pm-8pm at the San Marcos Art Center. We encourage all the amazing mermaids and mermen in San Marcos to attend and meet the artists and enjoy refreshments. Hill Country Photography Club Exhibition
The San Marcos Art Center is ecstatic to announce May’s featured exhibit by the Hill Country photography club, showing May 4th through May 29th. The exhibit will feature works from Central Texas photographers, both professional and intermediate, that vary in subject and are truly captivating. Join the San Marcos Art League in their opening reception at the San Marcos Art Center on May 6th from 6pm-8pm for a chance to meet the photographers, along with complimentary refreshments.
During the May 6th reception, a raffle will be taking place where participants can win prints from various photographers in the club. Join in on the fun and get the chance to take home a beautiful print of your very own! Must be present to participate.
Founded in 2003 by Jane Moss and Roger Palmer, the Hill Country Photography Club is an informal group of photographers of all ages and experience who are interested in exploring photography as an art medium. The Hill Country Photography Club strives to help members improve their individual photographic styles, as well as to learn more about the art and science of both film and digital photography. SMAL Annual Membership Meeting & Silent Auction
The San Marcos Art League will be hosting its annual membership meeting at The Price Center on March 3rd 2022! San Marcos Art League members, non-members and artists are all invited to attend the meeting as well as the silent auction that will be hosted during the event.
We are asking artists and supporters to donate items to the silent auction. These donations can be in the form of art, gift cards, items for gift baskets or monetary donations. These donations will help support the future permanent home of the San Marcos Art Center. Help us find our forever home for our local gallery and community space for local artists!
Donations can be dropped off at the San Marcos Art Center (117 N. Guadalupe St. Suite 101) in Downtown San Marcos from February 1st through the 20th. Art Center hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 11am-5pm; 10am-5pm on Saturdays.
The Art of Bill Hutson Reception
A reception celebrating The Art of Bill Hutson will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12 from 5-7 p.m. at the Price Center in downtown San Marcos. The reception is part of a unique, 5-gallery, city-wide exhibition celebrating the work of the San Marcos born artist. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
We invite you to visit all five San Marcos galleries during the day on Saturday and then plan to join us for the reception. Enjoy wonderful art, great company, and speak with representatives from each gallery.
