Why do we love October so much? For thousands of years, people around the world have celebrated autumn with festivals of light, harvest gatherings, and storytelling. Today we carry on that tradition with our own creative twist including pumpkin carving, candy, and of course, ART!

The San Marcos Art League exhibition “Eerie Expressions” welcomes your spooky art, scary art, gleaming black light art, Goth-inspired art, spirits and monsters and goblins art—if it captures the spirit of October, it belongs in this show. From whimsical to wonderfully dark, playful to Gothic—we want to see your unique take on the season!

• You can apply to participate online between August 3 - October 2, 2026.

• Intake for the show will be Sunday, October 4th, from 1-4pm. 

• The public opening reception will be Friday, October 9th, 2026, from 7-9pm (an hour later than usual to find the darkness) at the San Marcos Art Center.

• The exhibition will be open for viewing through Friday, October 20th.
