Elevate your artistic reach this spring! The San Marcos Art League invites all creators to submit work for the 2026 Spring Show. This exhibition offers unparalleled exposure, as the San Marcos Art Center will be a premier destination during the San Marcos Studio Tour, which spans two full weekends (April 4-5 and April 11–12).

Working together,  the San Marcos Art League and Texas State University create a flow of inspiration and resources.  The TXST Creative Community Exhibition ensures that the university’s cultural legacy remains a living part of the city’s identity. The exhibition runs from March 4-27.  An opening reception will be held Friday, March 6th from 6-8pm at the San Marcos Art Center. It is free and open to the public, serving light refreshments and beverages.

Join us at the San Marcos Art Center on 117 N Guadalupe during our open hours of 10am-5pm to see the specially curated SMAL Small Show of giftable art as well as the lovely seasonal offerings from the showing artists at the Art Center.

The annual Spooky Market is a special Halloween themed version of the Art Squared Arts Market. Besides our juried artist, we have opened the call to anything fun and spooky, bringing the best local artists together in one place. The Spooky Market takes place at the San Marcos, Texas Downtown Square on the 25th of October from 9am-4pm.

This October, the Art League gallery will be transformed with blacklight for our Goth & Glow exhibition. We invited artists to explore the many ways light can bring a spooky, glowing twist to their work. Join us for the Opening Reception on October 10th, 7-9pm.

Note that we are starting an hour later than other reception events at the San Marcos Art Center to capture the beauty of the darkness.

The July Awards Show celebrated artistic excellence with prizes for First Place and Honorable Mention in five categories, plus a prize for Best in Show. Being selected by Juror Jeff Dell, art faculty member at Texas State University, was an honor in itself. But, for the winning artists, one part of that prize is this invitation to participate in the Winners Showcase.

The Winners Showcase will be on display from September 9th - October 3rd.

The Big SMAL Show features art by members of the San Marcos Art League and will be on display from June 28 to August 23rd at the Price Center, 222 W. San Antonio St. San Marcos, TX 78666. Join us for the Closing Reception on August 20th, 6-8pm.

On August 11, from 6:30-8:30 pm, Nicole Groleau will hold a workshop on Cyanotype, which utilizes light-sensitive iron salts to create images from objects placed on sensitized paper. 

On August 5, from 6:30-8pm, Jeff Dell, the Texas State University Art professor who was our judge for this year’s Awards Show, will hold a class titled "The Art of Framing- Framing Your Art."
